Overview

Help us keep community healthy through group exercise.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Group Fitness Instructor at  intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined.  The Group Fitness Instructor will promote healthy and safe exercise programs for all clients in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

The Group Fitness Instructor will lead members, in a group environment, through a pre-arranged format of exercises designed to enhance overall fitness, strength and endurance, while ensuring the safety of the members.  The Group Exercise Instructor will also serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness.

 

  • Arrive at class location 10 minutes ahead of scheduled start time to be available to interact and greet members, answer questions, inquire about their fitness progress, introduce and orient new participants.
  • Provide participants with proper safety techniques and stimulating exercise session.
  • Maintain a class roster.
  • Responsible for keeping class format and music current and appropriate.

Qualifications

  • SCA, ASCM, ACE, AFAA, NSCA, NETA, NASM, AAAI/ISMA, or WITS certifications or Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Cycling, or Les Mills Certifications.
  • CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire date
