Overview

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Personal Trainer at The YMCA of Greater Monmouth County intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. Under the direct supervision of the Healthy Living Director, the Personal Trainers will promote healthy and safe exercise programs for all clients in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Must follow established protocols for accurate and timely scheduling and recording of personal training sessions.
  • Must be on time and prepared for all Personal Training appointments, which includes but is not limited to adhering to the established branch and department dress code (wearing a clean issued staff shirt in good condition, black workout pants or shorts and clean athletic sneakers or other appropriate closed toe shoes).
  • Notify your Supervisor and Client as soon as possible or with a minimum 24- hour notice if you are aware you are unable to make scheduled appointment.
  • Responsible for instituting a retention plan that promotes the continuation of personal training services, which includes but is not limited to providing outstanding customer service, listening and responding to client needs, establishing goals and tracking progress and encouraging them to continue when their current package is or has expired.
  • Responsible for generating new clients by engaging members and prospective clients.
  • Report any unsafe or suspicious activity or equipment directly to Directors/Managers on Duty and supervisor.
  • Wear appropriate mask and personal protective equipment as required
  • Enhanced cleaning in areas where the employee is not directly/normally assigned as well as normally assigned areas. All employees are expected to assist in and support the efforts of the YGMC when it comes to health and wellness for the facility and other locations where the YGMC conducts business. All employees are expected to wipe machines, screens, computers, phones or anything that is used after they use it, all employees are expected to wash their hands on a frequent basis (recommended every 30 minutes if possible), and use hand sanitizer when hand washing is not available.
  • The employee may be assigned to areas other than their normally assigned area as needed to meet organizational needs. Examples of this include, but are not limited to, being assigned areas to count people, help direct flow of traffic in an area, being assigned to a specific area to assist with doors, and any other duty as needed by the organization.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least age 18.
  • SCA, ASCM, ACE, AFAA, NSCA, ASAA, NETA, NASM, AAAI/ISMA or WITS certifications.
  • CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire date
  • YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Online Training
  • Blood borne Pathogen Online Training
  • Safe Lifting Online Training
  • Slips, Trips & Falls Online Training
  • Notify Healthy Living Director within 60 days before CPR/AED expiration date. The YMCA provides CPR/AED recertification classes.
