Overview

The Camp Counselor provides direct supervision and intentional interactions to an assigned group of campers during the seasonal day camp. Provide a safe, fun, quality experience to children focused on our YMCA core values of caring, honesty, inclusion, respect, and responsibility.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

Supervise and interact with a group of children, along with co-counselors.

 

Plan and implement program activities, following a designed schedule, that are developmentally appropriate and consistent with the YMCA core values; Maintain accurate attendance records; tracking students before, during, and after each activity and transition.

 

Maintain positive relations and provide support to co-workers; assist specialists in all activities with campers, i.e. arts and crafts, sports, ropes, etc.; actively participate in each of the camp areas, role modeling teamwork and sportsmanship.

Qualifications

At least 18 years of age

Completed senior year of high school

Experience working with children, preferably in a camp setting

Enjoys and is physically able to work outdoors

CPR, First Aid, Epi-pen, & AED certified prior to the start of camp
